Hoftollr Contribution

In Ásatrú, our Sagas identify a principle marker of loyalty to the Æsir as Hoftollr (literally the Temple Toll). Examples are found in Eyrbyggja Saga, Vápnfirðinga Saga, Egil's Saga, Gull-Þóris Saga, Kjalnesinga Saga, and Kristni Saga.

In the Sagas, refusal to pay Hoftollr is a clear sign that someone has left the old religion (Ásatrú) and is accompanied by abandoning Blót.

This tells us that today, it is still our duty to pay the Temple Toll. The Asatru Folk Assembly asks our Folk to contribute 1% or more of household income to the Asatru Folk Assembly, which is the Church of the Æsir in Midgard. AFA Hoftollr is used to continue the running of the Asatru Folk Assembly as a church, the acquisition and maintenance of Hofs, events, Blót, the Asatru Academy, and Folk Services.

Ethnoreligious stance

Membership in the Asatru Folk Assembly requires that you are of our Folk and share our ethics and worldview. We share a sincerely held religious belief that only heterosexual White persons who are not in an interracial relationship can be in Troth to the Æsir, a relationship that is called Ásatrú.
